I don't intend to be terribly strict with rules and things, but to prevent this from being nothing more than an advertising community, please abide by the following:

1) Please post actual conversational content first, at least a self-introduction, before posting an ad. Tell us a bit about who you are and what you like to do in SL. People will be much more interested in your business if they think you are a real person and not merely an advertising-bot.

2) Please post your ad only once. If there is a graphical element, please put it behind a cut-tag. If the ad is for an event please also put the date and time of the event BEFORE the cut. If you are advertising more than one product at once please place them all in the same post.

I'm not going to limit the number of ads per person just yet, we'll see how it goes, but if the community starts to look like more than 50% of the content is advertising I'm going to have to re-think the rules and maybe limit it even more. I'd like to see more actual conversation than advertising here.

Further rules that should be common sense:

- Hate speech, intolerance, bigotry and prejudice of any kind will not be tolerated, nor will any post that breaches DW terms and conditions.

- Please post non-advertising images behind a cut if they are bigger than 400 x400px.

- Anything of an adult/mature nature MUST be behind a cut regardless of size, and MUST be appropriately flagged.

My Intro

So I should take note of my own rules and introduce myself here. I'm Lewis Luminos in SL, I'm a relative newbie having been in-world since last August, although I did initially join in 2006, briefly, with an avatar that got abandoned. I initially signed up because of the live music, but once I learned how to build I caught "the bug" and I'm still here. I also very much enjoy philosophical discussions and I host an informal philosophical (usually SL-related) chat every week.

And having joined the community within minutes of it existing - actually, I was going to set one up, so we came within inches of having two Second Life communities there; good job I did that search just late enough - I should probably introduce myself, too.

I'm Athanasius Skytower in-world, resident since the end of May '08.  In-world, I mostly explore, play with interesting stuff I find, try to persuade scripts and outworld code to get together and perform unnatural acts, and do a little business on the side when I can.  I'm probably best known for building the Ping.fm PingHud, writing the Curmudgeonly Second Life Advice series of blog posts, and filing a whole pile of trivial bug reports on assorted Linden builds.
